What is Retiroll?
Retiroll is a browser-based random decision arena that turns everyday choices into interactive games. It features nine distinct physics engines. Choose from wheels, pneumatic lottery drums, 3D dice, Plinko, slot reels, darts, cards, bottle spins, and tournament brackets. Built with Next.js and TypeScript, Retiroll executes entirely in your browser with zero latency and requires no mandatory account registration.
How does Retiroll differ from legacy 2012 spinning wheel websites?
Legacy spinners rely on basic 2D rotation of plain text slices. Retiroll provides nine distinct simulation engines with rigid-body collisions, mechanical decelerations, and procedural Web Audio feedback. You can also organize multi-round tournaments, export 3D victory cards, and sync live screens using temporary room codes.
Is it really free?
Yes, Retiroll is completely free to use. Selected public informational pages display non-personalized, contextual ads to help cover hosting costs. Interactive game stages, the Sandbox, and live player rooms remain strictly ad-free.
Do I need an account?
You can use Sandbox without an account. A signed-in host account is needed to sync saved sets privately and open live rooms. Sandbox preferences and private history can stay in your browser; account-saved sets sync to your cloud account.
How many names can I add?
Local sets can hold large lists, but performance depends on your device. Live room publishing supports up to 10,000 options; try a smaller list on older phones or tablets.
How do I export and share a winner victory card?
When a decider finishes, click Share Victory Card inside the celebration dialog. You can download an image graphic of the winning pick or copy a direct link to share with your group. Press Shift+Enter to eliminate that winner and start the next spin immediately.
How do I open the Command Palette, and what can I do with it?
Press ⌘K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows to open the Command Palette immediately. From the palette, you can switch decider engines, apply roster presets, toggle sound, and enter Fullscreen Zen mode without touching your mouse. On mobile devices, tap the floating Quick Tools chip at the bottom-right corner to open the same menu as a bottom sheet.
What keyboard shortcuts can I use during games?
Press Space to spin or roll the active decider immediately. Use number keys 1 through 9 to switch between physics engines in real time. Press R to shuffle roster order, Shift+Enter to eliminate the winner and spin again, and ? to open the keyboard cheat sheet.
How do I enter Fullscreen Zen mode for projectors and meeting displays?
Press Z or F on your keyboard to expand the game stage to full screen. Zen mode hides headers, navigation docks, and sidebars to eliminate visual clutter. A translucent presentation bar displays your room code and spectator count with a one-click exit button. Press Z or Escape again to return to standard view.
Can I enlarge or zoom the wheel or game stage for a TV or projector?
Yes. Use the zoom stepper in the bottom Zen dock. You can also press + and - on your keyboard to scale the stage between 60% and 180%. Tap the percentage badge or press 0 to reset to 100%. Exiting Zen mode restores standard scaling automatically.
Can I control spins using touch gestures on tablets and mobile devices?
Yes. You can tap the center stage, swipe down on the wheel, or use the floating action button at the bottom of the screen. Touch controls are optimized for iPad, Android tablets, and interactive classroom smartboards.
Is the picking actually fair?
Retiroll uses the browser’s standard Math.random() function and mode-specific selection logic. Equal weights do not make a result independently auditable, cryptographically secure, or certified. Do not use it for gambling, regulated lotteries, prizes, or other high-stakes decisions.
How does weighted probability work?
Each option receives a numerical weight between 1 and 100. The winning probability equals that option’s weight divided by the sum of all weights. On the wheel, higher weights expand the sector arc. In the lottery drum, higher weights generate multiple bouncing balls.
Why did the wheel land on the same option two times in a row?
Each spin is a statistically independent event. Past outcomes have zero impact on future spins. In true randomness, clusters and consecutive picks occur naturally, just like flipping a fair coin and landing on heads twice in a row.
Why does Retiroll use Math.random() instead of hardware true random number generators?
Browser Math.random() delivers uniform pseudo-random distributions with zero network latency. It runs instantly on any device without remote server calls. Retiroll is designed for casual group decisions, agile standups, and classroom activities, not for certified monetary gambling or regulated lotteries.
What’s Elimination Mode?
With no-repeat enabled, a selected option leaves the pool until you reset it. This prevents that same option from being selected again in the current run; it does not guarantee that every person gets a turn.
Can the host peek at who’ll win?
Retiroll does not show a control to preview the next result. Selection runs in the browser using Math.random() and mode-specific logic. The result is not independently auditable or certified.
Can educators and workshop leaders use Retiroll?
Yes. Facilitators, trainers, and educators use Retiroll for discussion picks, group formation, and review games. Live participant screens are completely ad-free and require zero accounts or personal student information.
How do I import rosters or large lists?
In Host Studio, click "Import CSV / Spreadsheet". Upload a .csv from Google Sheets or Excel, or copy-paste your name column directly into the roster area. Retiroll handles up to 10,000 entries in seconds.
Does it work on large conference displays and smartboards?
Yes — touch-optimized for interactive whiteboards, conference screens, Promethean boards, and projectors. Tap to spin, confetti fills the screen, and the high-contrast palettes are visible across any room.
How do teams and groups use it for review games?
Popular setups include: Tournament Bracket for team trivia, Card Draw for quick flashcard drills, and the Wheel for prize giveaways and icebreakers.
How does the Roster Sanitizer clean my list of names?
Click Sanitize Roster in the roster dock to format your list instantly. The tool strips duplicate names, trims accidental whitespace, and normalizes capitalization across all entries. It also extracts ticket weights like (3) or x2 directly from text.
Are student names or classroom lists protected?
Yes. Rosters in the Sandbox remain stored on your local device. Live room sessions use temporary six-character codes and collect no personal student information. Participant screens are completely ad-free and require zero accounts.
Mobile and tablet support?
Fully responsive — works on iPhones, iPads, Android, Chromebooks, Mac, and Windows. Touch gestures are built in.
Can I use it offline?
The game code runs in your browser, but sign-in, cloud saves, live rooms, and the first page load need an internet connection. Offline behavior depends on what your browser has cached, so do not rely on it for a live class.
Do the sound effects eat up bandwidth?
Not at all. Every click, tick, and fanfare is generated in real time using the browser’s Web Audio API. Oscillator pulses synthesize audio on the fly, so no audio files are downloaded or streamed across the network.
Why is there no rising pitch whine when games spin?
Retiroll uses physical acoustic contact sounds synthesized directly in your browser. We intentionally removed artificial rising frequency tones and continuous pitch sweeps during spins. You hear only natural peg clicks, mechanical decelerations, and celebratory fanfare chords. Press M to silence or re-enable audio at any time.
What rendering technologies power each game mode?
The classic wheel, lottery drum, and Plinko board run on high-performance HTML5 Canvas 2D. 3D dice uses Three.js and WebGL for realistic physical rotations. The card deck and tournament tree use responsive CSS 3D transforms and SVG diagrams.
What are the browser and device requirements?
Retiroll works in any modern browser supporting HTML5 Canvas and the Web Audio API. This includes Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, Linux, and Chromebooks.
Where’s my data stored?
Sandbox settings and private history may stay in your browser. If you save a set while signed in, it syncs to your private cloud account. Live room configuration is temporary and visible to people with the active code. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I create and customize a game set?
Head to Host Studio and click "+ New Set". The interactive stage opens immediately with live physics. Type your title directly into the top header, adjust options in the side drawer, test your spins, and hit "Save Set".
Can different game engines have different option lists in the same game set?
Yes. Each engine maintains its own independent dataset tailored to its capacity. For example, your 3D Dice can keep numbers 1 to 6 while your Wheel keeps 30 student names and your Dartboard keeps 20 target zones.
What happens to my existing game sets?
They upgrade automatically. When you open a legacy set in the new studio, your original options hydrate into the new independent engine format without losing any data.
What’s the six-character join code?
When a signed-in host opens a room, a six-character code lets people join without an account. Each room supports up to 50 concurrent participants. Anyone with the active code can request that room’s configuration. The room closes when the host ends it or 1 hour after the last renewal.
How many participants can join a live room?
Each live room supports up to 50 concurrent participants. When capacity is reached, additional participants must wait until a spot opens up. Active sessions stay live for up to 1 hour.
Can I adjust the spin duration?
Yes — there’s a Suspense Duration slider in both Host Studio and Free Sandbox. Set it from a quick 2-second snap to a dramatic 10-second nail-biter.
Can I export or share my game sets?
You can export a JSON file and choose who receives it; that file may include every option in the set. Room links contain only a code and work while a signed-in host keeps that room active. A room closes when ended or 1 hour after its last renewal.
How do live spectator rooms synchronize across devices?
When a host opens a room, the server issues a temporary six-character code. Participants open retiroll.online/play and enter the code to join. The host screen broadcasts game state and spin events so everyone watches outcomes unfold together.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Use the Contact page or email retiroll.dev@gmail.com. We read the messages we receive.
What is Tournament Mode?
Tournament Mode arranges participants into head-to-head or multi-person matches. Results advance through the bracket until it names a final participant or team. Check the match size, number advancing, and other settings before you start.
What's the difference between Bracket and Group Stage?
Bracket mode can remove a participant after a loss. Group Stage organizes participants into pools before advancing selected participants to later rounds. Review the setup to see how many participants advance.
Can matches have more than 2 participants?
Absolutely. You can set match sizes from 2 up to 10 participants per heat, and choose how many advance from each one. So a 4-person heat where the top 2 move on? Totally supported. The engine handles all the bracket math for you.
How are participants seeded?
You can seed a bracket randomly, follow roster order, or use ranked weights. Random seeding uses browser randomness and is not a fairness certification.
Is there a Bronze / 3rd-place match?
Yes — toggle it on in the tournament setup. The two semifinal losers will play one more round to determine who takes third. 💡 Something to keep in mind: this only applies to standard Bracket mode, not Group Stage.
How does scoring work inside each match?
Each match runs a series of physics spins (wheel, dice, lottery — whichever engine you pick). Points are tallied per spin, and the participant with the highest cumulative score wins the match and advances. You can inspect the full breakdown in the Match Inspector panel after each round.
Can I print or export tournament brackets?
Yes. You can export clean high-resolution PNG bracket diagrams or printable PDF sheets directly from the Tournament Inspector. You can also export match standings as CSV files for spreadsheet tracking.
Is Retiroll safe and legitimate? Why do some automated scanners flag it?
Retiroll is a free interactive game service. No website can promise that it is risk-free. We use HTTPS, database access rules, and server-side checks for contact forms. A third-party scanner score is that provider’s assessment, not a security certification from us.
Why is Retiroll completely free? What is the catch?
Retiroll is free to use. To cover infrastructure costs, we display non-personalized, contextual advertisements on a small set of public information pages (/about, /faq, /guide, /presets index, /updates, /changelog). Every ad request carries Google's child-directed protection signal (data-tag-for-age-treatment="1"), with zero personalized ads or remarketing anywhere on the site. All interactive games, classrooms, live rooms, and account routes remain completely ad-free.
Why are ads shown on some pages, and where are they blocked?
Non-personalized contextual ads appear only on selected informational pages like /about and /faq to help fund server hosting. Every ad request includes Google’s child-directed protection tags. All interactive game stages, Sandbox, and live player rooms remain completely ad-free.
Where do roster names and game options go?
Sandbox data may remain in your browser. Account-saved sets sync to the signed-in owner’s private cloud account. Live room settings, options, and display names are sent to the room service and connected participants while the room is active. We do not claim COPPA compliance; schools should review their requirements before entering student information.
How can I verify Retiroll's security and authenticity?
Read our Safety page and Privacy Policy, or email retiroll.dev@gmail.com. You can also view third-party reputation pages, but their scores are not a guarantee or security certification from Retiroll.
