Welcome to the Retiroll guide. Whether you’re a team lead running an agile standup, an event host setting up a game night, or a workshop facilitator organizing group activities, start here.
1. Quick-Start: Launch Your First Game in 60 Seconds
Create and run an interactive decision game in under a minute.
Prerequisites
- A modern web browser on desktop, tablet, or phone.
- At least two decision choices ready to enter.
- Free account optional for cloud sync and live rooms.
- Estimated setup time: under 60 seconds.
Step 1: Open the interactive stage
Action: Head to Host Studio and click + New Set (or open the Free Sandbox).
Expected Result: The live game stage opens immediately with an in-place draft. No static setup forms required.
Step 2: Enter your choices
Action: Click Edit Roster in the side dock or HUD to paste names or options.
Expected Result: The active decider updates on screen immediately with your entered items.
Step 3: Select your decision engine
Action: Click any engine icon in the top switcher bar to pick your decider.
Expected Result: The stage swaps physics engines instantly while keeping your options ready.
Step 4: Spin and decide
Action: Click the central SPIN button or press Spacebar.
Expected Result: Physics animations roll live on canvas, crowning the winner with celebratory confetti.
- If the spin button stays disabled: Verify that your active engine list has at least two valid options.
- If changes do not persist: Click Save Set in the top dock to sync your draft to the cloud.
2. Roster Management, Independent Datasets & CSV Import
Nobody wants to type dozens of names by hand. Retiroll gives you fast import tools and independent lists per game.
Independent Per-Engine Datasets
Every decider engine stores its own dedicated options pool. A 6-sided die keeps 6 numbered faces. Card Monte keeps 2 to 6 cards. Dartboard holds 20 slices or 82 zones. Wheels handle up to 10,000 entries.
Editing your dice numbers will not alter your wheel roster. Need the same names everywhere? Click Copy from Wheel in any engine HUD to pull and safely slice your master roster.
Paste directly
Copy names from Word, Sheets, Notes, or email. Paste them directly into the roster box. Retiroll auto-parses line breaks and trims whitespace cleanly.
Import CSV / Excel
In Host Studio, click Import CSV / Spreadsheet and upload a .csv or tab-delimited file. Names load immediately into your active decider.
Sandbox lists remain in your browser. Cloud-saved sets sync to your private account. Use initials or pseudonyms for students when needed.
Clean Lists with Roster Sanitizer
Dirty rosters waste meeting time. The Roster Sanitizer cleans entries without manual editing.
- Deduplicate entries: Strips repeated choices instantly while preserving original ordering.
- Trim whitespace: Removes trailing spaces, tabs, and empty rows from pasted text.
- Normalize letter casing: Converts mixed capitalization into clean Title Case or lowercase.
- Sort and reverse: Alphabetizes entries A to Z or reverses list sequence with a single click.
- Quick-load presets: Load 1–3, 1–6, 1–10, Yes/No, or Coin Toss directly from the manipulate tray.
Capacity and Limits
Wheels and blowers accept up to 10,000 options. Other engines use natural physical limits: 6 faces for dice, 2 to 6 for cards, and 11 slots for Plinko.
3. Weights, Elimination & Fairness
Weighted items
Assign a weight (1×, 2×, 5×…) to an item. In modes that use weights, a higher value gives that option a larger intended share of results. The browser uses standard randomness; Retiroll is not a certified drawing tool.
Elimination Mode
With no-repeat on, picked items are removed from later picks until the pool is restored. The number of picks and pool settings determine who gets a turn.
4. The 9 Decision Engines
Each mode presents decisions through distinct physics and rules. Every engine in your game set stores its own independent dataset and configurations.
1. Spin Wheel
Classic carnival wheel with peg collisions and decelerating clicker audio.
2. Lottery Blower
Bouncing numbered balls in a transparent drum — one gets sucked into the chute.
3. 3D Dice Roller
Real Euler rotations (pitch, roll, yaw) with spring-dampened bounces.
4. Plinko Board
Chips bounce off staggered pins into labeled prize slots.
5. Slot Machine
Tri-reel momentum — reels blur to a stop one by one for near-miss drama.
6. Dartboard
Regulation 301 and 501 countdowns, checkout paths, custom board themes, and 3-dart turn rotations.
7. Card Draw & Monte
Riffle-shuffled deck or multi-card monte. Deal face-down blind decision shuffles or track targets across 2 to 6 cards.
8. Bottle Spinner
Group sits in a circle; the bottle coasts to a stop pointing at the chosen person.
9. Tournament Bracket
Elimination brackets or group-stage pools for up to 64 contestants. Run classic 1v1 matchups or multi-way heats (2–10 per match) with custom advancement counts. Optional bronze match for 3rd place.
5. Darts Match Play, 20-Slice & 82-Zone Mapping
Retiroll pairs authentic regulation darts mechanics with custom target selection. You get official countdown scoring, true checkout paths, and deep board customization.
Two Distinct Modes
Use the top toggle in the dartboard sidebar to swap between Match Play and Custom Targets.
- Match Play: Play regulation 301, 501, or Free Play. Your score counts down to zero using official 3-dart turns.
- Custom Targets: Run decision rounds with your own labels. You can choose 20-Slice mode or 82-Zone Matrix mode.
20-Slice Mode (Default)
Slice mode maps up to 20 options directly to the sectors. Quick presets let you populate 1–20 numbers or A–T letters in one click.
When a dart lands on a ring, your custom option remains the winner title. Multipliers like 🔥 3× TRIPLE RING! appear as bonus tags.
82-Zone Direct Mapping Studio
Need granular control? Enable 82-Zone Matrix.
This mode maps every bed on the dartboard independently. You get 20 doubles, 20 outer singles, 20 triples, 20 inner singles, and 2 bullseye rings. That totals 82 unique target zones.
- Click-to-Edit: Tap any zone on the board when idle to open its settings directly.
- 2-Character On-Board Labels: Shortcodes fit inside wire rings without overlapping radial spokes.
- Full Name Announcements: The victory modal and aiming badge display the complete target name you entered.
- Bulk Import: Paste up to 82 lines in the studio modal to configure the full board in seconds.
Safe Toggling & Export
Switching back to 20-slice mode opens a safety confirmation. You can export a JSON backup or copy your config before clearing.
Regulation Rules & Checkout Paths
Each turn provides 3 darts. In Double Out, you must land on a double or bullseye to finish.
If your throw exceeds your score or leaves 1, you bust. Your score resets to your turn start total. Below 170 points, the HUD displays optimal checkout routes.
Color Studio Integration
Board palettes now live in the top Color Studio. Switch between Classic, Midnight, Cyberpunk, and Emerald themes whenever you want.
6. Card Monte: Blind Decision & Classic Shuffle
Card Monte offers two mechanics for group choices. You can track a target or pick blind. Both modes run on mobile and desktop. Use it when wheels feel stale.
Understanding the Two Modes
Retiroll provides two distinct shuffle workflows depending on your objective:
- Blind Decision (Default): Every card hides an option from your list. Cards shuffle face down without revealing values. Tap any card to crown your winner. The remaining cards reveal unpicked choices. This delivers neutral, bias-free group choices.
- Track Target (Classic Monte): One winning card is shown upfront. The cards flip down and swap positions. Players test their visual focus to find the designated winner.
Prerequisites
Before launching a Card Monte session, prepare the following items:
- At least 2 options entered in your roster list (supports up to 6 cards on table).
- Access to the Free Sandbox or a Host Studio room.
- A modern web browser on desktop or mobile.
- Estimated setup time: under 30 seconds.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Step 1: Select the Cards engine
Action: Click the Cards icon in the top engine switcher bar.
Expected Result: The stage displays the card table and the Monte controls appear in your HUD.
Step 2: Choose your table size
Action: Select 2 Cards, 3 Cards, 4 Cards, 5 Cards, or 6 Cards under Cards on Table.
Expected Result: The table immediately displays the chosen count of distinct options from your list.
Step 3: Select your shuffle mode
Action: Click Blind Decision for unbiased picks, or click Track Target for the classic shell game.
Expected Result: In Blind Decision, the target winner is optioned out. In Track Target, the target winner dropdown becomes active.
Step 4: Launch the shuffle
Action: Click the central SHUFFLE NOW button.
Expected Result: Cards flip face down and slide through high-speed position swaps. The animation locks user input during the shuffle.
Step 5: Tap a card to decide
Action: When the prompt reads TAP A CARD TO DECIDE, tap any face-down card.
Expected Result: Your selected card flips face up with a gold YOUR PICK crown. Confetti triggers and the win logs to your session history. The other cards flip face up with subtle transparency.
Host Studio & Multiplayer Permissions
In Host Studio, your card counts, shuffle mode, and card rosters save automatically to the game set. In live rooms, hosts control pick rights with the Who Can Pick dropdown in your HUD:
- Host Only: Only the host can tap a card to conclude the shuffle.
- Any Joiner: The first player to tap a card registers the room decision.
- Designated Player: Assign picking rights to a specific participant name from your lobby.
- If cards will not deal: Verify that your list has at least two options. Single-item lists cannot populate a multi-card shuffle.
- If tap input ignores your click: Ensure the shuffle animation has completely stopped. Input remains disabled while cards are in motion.
- If joiners cannot pick: Check the Who Can Pick setting. Set it to Any Joiner so participants can tap from their phones.
7. Group & Meeting Playbook
Teams, facilitators, and organizers use Retiroll to keep groups engaged and eliminate decision fatigue:
A. Agile Standup Speaking Order
Spin the wheel or draw cards at the start of daily standups to determine who speaks next. Randomizing speaking order eliminates the awkward “who goes next?” pause and keeps 15-minute scrums prompt and lively.
B. Fair Task & Chore Delegation
When assigning bug triage shifts, meeting minute duties, code review partners, or household chores, enable No-Repeat Elimination. Every item is selected exactly once without managerial bias.
C. Interactive Workshop Breakouts
Divide large teams or workshop attendees into balanced breakout tables. Use the Tournament Bracket or wheel to pit ideas, design prototypes, or debate topics head-to-head.
D. Classroom & Student Engagement
Educators project the wheel or Plinko board to call on discussion volunteers, assign reading partners, and run quiz reviews without student anxiety or perceived favoritism.
8. Parties, Streams & Events
Turn social decisions and live broadcasts into shared entertainment:
- Live Stream Giveaways: Streamers use the wheel or Lottery Blower as a transparent browser source on OBS/Streamlabs for unrigged viewer raffles.
- Board Game & Party Nights: Replace missing physical dice, spinners, or coin tosses with 3D Dice, Plinko, or the Bottle Spinner.
- Secret Santa & Gift Swaps: Use Card Deck Draw or the wheel to determine turn order and gift steals with maximum suspense.
9. Customization & The Host Control Dock
Host Studio puts all controls on a persistent top dock directly above the stage:
- Inline Title Renaming: Click your game set title in the top dock to edit its name anytime.
- One-Click Cloud Save: Click Save Set to write all engine configurations to your cloud account instantly.
- Suspense Duration: Adjust spin duration from a brisk 2-second snap to a 10-second suspense roll.
- Engine Physics & HUD: Tune peg counts in Plinko, reel counts in Slots, or table styles in Bottle Spinner.
- Acoustic Contact Sounds: Realistic peg ticks, bumper clicks, and deceleration body knocks synthesized live in code. No artificial rising pitch whine. Press M to toggle mute.
- Color Studio & Spatial Glassmorphism: Choose Neon Synthwave, Emerald Casino, Midnight, Sunset Blaze, or High-Contrast Mono with frosted glass bevels for dark and light modes.
- Social Victory Cards: Click Share Victory Card after any spin to download high-resolution graphic cards or copy direct result links for your group.
10. Live Sharing with a Six-Character Room Code
